Fred Segal opened today in the big Sunset|La Cienega development on the increasingly classy Sunset Strip.
The new 13,000-square-foot Fred Segal store features permanent shops-within-a-shop, each with “a unique buildout in line with their specific brands,” the retailer announced today.
One of the new permanent installations will be for architecture and design bookstore Hennessey & Ingalls. The store will also house a combination of pop-ups, event spaces, a florist, a restaurant, and a cafe, as well as art installations. It was designed by “Brand Studio CAA-GBG with AliceAnn Wilson, creative director, in collaboration with Mike Mankin Design and LMA Architects.”
It opens not too long after the opening of the Jeremy hotel, also in Sunset|La Cienega. The development is located at 8500 Sunset, at the project’s namesake intersection.
The whole project, which spans two blocks, was originally built by CIM Group. The property sold this summer to Korman Communities, but CIM still owns the retail segment. The two eight-story towers were planned as condos.
Fred Segal closed its Santa Monica location in the spring of 2016.
