It’s been about a year since we heard any news about the impending arrival of an Apple store in Downtown LA, but apparently no news is good news. DTLA broker and blogger Brigham Yen says that “according to a few reliable sources,” Apple has signed a lease to move into the Tower Theatre on Broadway.

Yen says that now that a deal has been signed, more details will likely emerge soon about how Apple will fit the store into the theater’s existing layout, which consists of 7,500 square feet of theater space and a basement of the same size.

The theater is owned by the Delijani family, which owns a number of Downtown properties including the Palace, State, and Los Angeles theaters. The owners once planned to convert the four theaters into permanent concert venues.

The Tower Theatre sits at Eighth and Broadway, a strip of Downtown where new retailers and eateries are flocking. Just a bit south lies the Ace Hotel and the United Artists Theatre.
