A new six-story apartment building may be on the way to Ventura Boulevard in Encino, replacing a single-story commercial building that exists on the site today.
Plans filed with the city Tuesday indicate that the project would include 114 units of housing, including 11 that would be affordable. In exchange for providing the affordable units, the developer, listed as Encino Investors LLC, has asked the city for incentives allowing the project to be taller and more dense than the site’s zoning normally allows.
Located at 16161 West Ventura Boulevard, the building now on the project site houses several businesses, including a sushi bar and a Barry’s Tickets outpost. It would be demolished to clear space for the project.
Development along Ventura Boulevard is heating up. Farther east, in Woodland Hills, an eight-story hotel and a mixed use project with housing and commercial space have been recently proposed along the thoroughfare.
