Navigating the streets of Los Angeles by car can certainly be a chore, but try tackling rush hour behind the wheel of a 60-foot double-length bus. Throw in a strict timetable, ornery passengers, unprotected lefts, various odors, and the occasional run-in with bodily fluids. These are just some of the obstacles faced by Metro’s bus and rail drivers.
The men and women of Metro trek across town day and night, on some of the most congested roads in the U.S., transporting us to work and play with little recognition for what they do.
But not today. Today is their day.
The Source kindly informs us that March 17 is Transit Driver Appreciation Day, a day devoted to letting Metro operators know their hard work is not going unnoticed.

Metro invites passengers to brighten a driver’s day today with a friendly greeting or thank you card. Know a driver that goes above and beyond the call of duty? Tell their bosses about it by filling out this official Metro commendation form.
Let’s give a cheer today for that driver who got you to work on time in the rain, booted off a troublemaker, or just plain offers a friendly smile and hello. They deserve it.
