Which would you pick: A romantic Whitley Heights studio or a contemporary Burbank two-bedroom?

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. We've found five rental listings within $100 of today's price: $1,900.

↑ This Whitley Heights studio apartment has wood floors, a slim balcony with wrought-iron details, and romantic, curved French doors. The 450-square-foot apartment’s small kitchen features a stove and refrigerator. There’s even a parking space, though the listing warns it is small and wouldn’t fit an SUV. Rent is $1,895.

↑ This studio apartment in Echo Park is located up Echo Park Avenue, still walking distance from all the fun down on Sunset Boulevard. The apartment sits over a row of shops including a corner coffee shop. The unit has wood floors, new counters, and shiny stainless steel appliances. Rent is $1,900.

↑ This one-bedroom is located in a classy Koreatown building designed by Leland Bryant, known as the architect behind some of LA’s most glamorous old apartment buildings. The apartment is a roomy 1,113 square feet and still has its original crown molding and Art Deco bathroom tile, says the listing. There’s on-site laundry and, for a fee, parking. (There’s a waitlist, but this apartment’s tenant would be fourth on the list.) Rent here is $1,995.

↑ Newly renovated, this Sawtelle one-bedroom has hardwood floors, big corner windows in the living room, and smooth ceilings (no popcorn!). The bathroom has been updated, says the listing; we’re loving the pink tile there and in the kitchen. Two tandem parking spaces are part of the deal, and the complex has on-site laundry machines. It’s renting for $1,895.

↑ Located in a Burbank apartment complex that looks just like a single-family house, this two-bedroom apartment offers new everything: new kitchen, bathroom, wood floors, tilework, counters, and cabinets. The apartment offers a garage parking space and shares on-site laundry facilities with the complex. Rent is $1,995.
