Plans were filed Wednesday for a 40-story high-rise on Eighth Street in Downtown LA’s Financial District, with 409 units of housing and 7,329 square feet of street-level commercial space.
The address is listed as 754 South Hope Street; the property stretches from Hope to Grand Avenue on Eighth Street. That location is right across the street from Whole Foods and just down the street from The Bloc, the new open air mall anchored by Macy’s.
The tower, which would reach a height of 467 feet, would knock out a three-level parking garage, but hold six levels of parking with 487 spaces.
The plans were filed by Ian Bentata of Mitsui Fudosan America, Inc., which is also planning a sleek, glassy 43-story, residential high-rise at Eighth and Figueroa streets. Its parent company is Japanese real estate developer Mitsui Fudosan.
Mitsui’s website says the units in its newest development will be apartments.
