Big Eastern Columbia loft with brilliant views lists for $3.98M

So many windows

Here’s another opportunity to own a unit in Downtown LA’s Eastern Columbia Lofts—one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the city. A penthouse measuring a generous 3,320 square feet has hit the market for $3.98 million, a price that buys killer views of the Downtown skyline.

The listing comes on the heels of Johnny Depp putting up for sale his collection of five penthouses in the Eastern Columbia building. While Depp’s condos skewed eclectic and bohemian, this two-bed, three-bath unit is streamlined and drenched in light. It features hardwood floors, Viking appliances in the kitchen, and marble bathrooms.

Windows are plentiful and none have curtains—so the views really shine. (The listing says each window is equipped with electric shades). They look out at the top of the Ace Hotel and the U.S. Bank Tower.

But skyline vistas are changing rapidly as new towers are constructed; there’s even a 27-story tower called the Alexan that’s planned for right nextdoor to the 13-story Eastern Columbia building. Residents have opposed the Alexan, saying it will block the Eastern Columbia’s beautiful clock tower and their views.
