And, a rooftop restaurant

A five-story building dating back to 1914 will soon be getting a makeover that will transform the structure into office space with retail and restaurant space, says Urbanize LA.

Developer Urban Offerings has plans to create within the building 60,000 square feet of offices, and over 40,000 square feet of shops and eateries spread out through the ground floor, basement, and rooftop. The roof will have a newly built restaurant and an outdoor seating area.

Urban Offerings partnered with ESI Ventures to purchase the building. Downtown LA-based architecture and interior design firm Omgivning is designing the project.

The Norton building, located on Los Angeles Street near Eighth, is not far from another project that Urban Offerings has in the works: a 33-story residential tower called 7th & Maple. It’s one of a couple major projects proposed for the Fashion District, including a major development that could turn the Southern California Flower Market into a flower market and a 14-story tower.
