Set back among the windy streets of Pasadena’s Linda Vista neighborhood, near Art Center College of Design and the Rose Bowl, this five-bedroom midcentury integrates updates into its classic design.

The residence, which dates to 1955, was designed by local architect Harold Bissner. A largely self-taught architect, Bissner is known for his solo work as well as his projects with Harold B. Zook.

At 3,248 square feet, the house is spacious and well-laid out, with the bedrooms spread throughout the house, offering privacy.

The dwelling has been “extensively updated over the last few years” in a way that’s sensitive to the house’s “architectural integrity.” In the kitchen—which is separated from the formal dining room by a pair of glass block walls—these updates include new cabinets, black granite countertops, and appliances. Hardwood and slate floors run throughout the house.

Sections of the upper floor and ground level both open onto the professionally landscaped backyard and pool.

The house is listed for $1.958 million.
