A Century Boulevard office building blocks from LAX is set to be transformed into a Hyatt-operated hotel and extended-stay apartment complex with a “trendy, midcentury urban design.”

That’s according to investment banking firm George Smith Partners, which arranged financing for the airport-adjacent project. Located at 5959 Century Boulevard, it will include 272 Hyatt Place guest rooms and 129 apartments rentable for flexible amounts of time through the company’s Hyatt House brand.

Both elements of the project will fit into the 13-story Airport Center office building constructed in the 1960s. Rooms will feature lofty 11.5-foot ceilings, and amenities for guests will include a swimming pool, fitness center, restaurant, and rooftop bar.

The hotel and apartments are expected to open in 2019, just in time for the completion of the Crenshaw/LAX Line, which will give LA residents and travelers a new link to the airport.

Come 2023, a planned people mover will make things more convenient, allowing passengers to ride directly into the airport from the light rail line.
