Another big new apartment complex may be on the way to Warner Center, where developers are planning a number of potentially transformative new projects.
This one would bring 358 new units of housing to the area, spread throughout a seven-story development with a single level of underground parking and ground-floor retail and office space. Plans filed with the city Tuesday indicate that the project would include more than 290,000 square feet of residential space, and nearly 70,000 square feet for the other uses.
Developer California Home Builders is behind the project, which would rise at the northwest corner of De Soto Avenue and Erwin Street, replacing a funky 1970s commercial building. The firm is also building another large apartment complex kitty corner to this one, as well as a third about a mile to the west.
Those two projects, called Q East and Q West, will include a combined 588 units of housing and 66,000 square feet of commercial space. The developer says that both projects, rich with residential amenities, are designed to attract “young professionals and millennials.”
Q East, which is closer to this latest project, is now under construction and is expected to open in 2019.
