Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. We've found five rentals within $100 of today’s price, $1,700.

The charming Art Deco exterior of this East Hollywood fourplex holds a roomy, 620-square-foot one-bedroom apartment. The original hardwood floors remain, but the apartment’s cabinets, counters, tiles, and appliances are all new. There’s in-unit laundry hookups (there’s an option to purchase a previous tenant’s remaining washer and dryer), and the apartment also has a parking space. Rent is $1,795.

Get outta town! This one-bedroom guest house is a hideaway in the hills of Tujunga, far from the throng of the city. The unit features wood floors, quartz counters, an open kitchen, an updated bathroom, off-street parking, and access to a small yard. There’s also ceiling fans and two wall-mounted air conditioners. The rent is $1,600.

Measuring a spacious 800 square feet, the Hollywood one-bedroom up for grabs holds hardwood floors, a dishwasher, and in-unit laundry machines. The apartment also has colorful vintage tile in the kitchen and the bathroom. Off-street parking is included in the $1,790 rent.

This Koreatown one-bedroom is conveniently located about a block away from the Wilshire/Western Purple Line stop. The bright unit comes with one parking space, ceiling fans, and a newish-looking bathroom. It rents for $1,650.

A nice spot in Pico-Robertson, this upper-level, one-bedroom apartment offers on-site laundry, wood floors, an ample kitchen with dining area, a sunny yellow tiled bathroom, and ceiling fans. There’s no reserved parking, though. It rents for $1,750.
