Looking for a new place? If space (or cost) isn't a priority, consider this striking studio apartment in the 1924-built Sachs Apartments.

Designed by one of Los Angeles's most innovative architects, R.M. Schindler, the Silver Lake complex is built in a neat early modern style with boxy units and elegant walls of glass. It was constructed for Schindler’s friend, Herman Sachs, who designed the interiors of local landmarks like Los Angeles City Hall and Union Station.

Inside, this particular apartment features hardwood floors, a sunny reading and dining nook, sturdy dark wood walls, and a host of imaginative built-ins. With shelving, cabinetry, furniture, and a wall pocket for a bed all built right into the place, the unit almost resembles a very well-appointed Airstream trailer—in Schindler’s distinctive style, of course.

The apartment also includes a compact, but serviceable, kitchen and a tiled bathroom. Best of all, it opens to a spacious deck with a pergola shade structure and views across the neighborhood.

Asking rent is a very Silver Lake-y $3,000.
