A new residential development may soon be sprouting up on the border of Culver City and Palms. Plans filed with the city Monday call for a new mixed use complex with 108 units of housing and 3,600 square feet of commercial space.
The project would rise directly across the street from the Sony Pictures Studios lot at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Motor Avenue. It’s not clear whether the housing would be rental units or condominiums, but the building would be served by two levels of underground parking.
If approved, the project would require the demolition of an existing auto body shop and surface level parking lot currently on the project site.
Though located within Los Angeles city limits, the building would be located just blocks from Downtown Culver City, where a few other projects are now in the works—including a new headquarters for HBO, an expansion at the historic Culver Studios campus, and a makeover for the 1920s-era West End Hotel.
The new project will also be located about a mile from the Palms Expo Line stop and just a little further from the Culver City station.
