Los Angeles home once owned by Tina and Ike Turner lists for $999K

Ike and Tina-era sofas and circular bed

This four-bedroom View Park house was built in 1956, but it’s definitely a 1970s time capsule. In 1977, the sellers purchased the house from legendary musical duo Ike and Tina Turner, who were just a handful of the well-to-do residents of the neighborhood nicknamed "the Black Beverly Hills."

One of the home’s owners, Amanda Pittman, tells Curbed over the phone that much of what’s in the house now has been there since she and her then-husband purchased the house, including the circular bed in the master bedroom and the curvy beige sofas in the family room.

The house was so well-preserved that it was used for the filming of some scenes in the 1993's What’s Love Got to Do With It, a film based loosely on Tina Turner's rise to stardom and break from her abusive relationship with Ike.

Not everything is exactly as the Turners left it, but it's close. Pittman recalls that Ike Turner had the sofas custom-made, but they were upholstered in a red, possibly velvet material that she disliked, so she had them redone in beige. (Owners are still determining whether or not the furniture is up for sale, says listing agent Ken Conant.)

A waterfall in the family room is dormant now, but it once held koi fish, Pittman says. The living room has an additional space for fish in the built-in tank (also empty at present) behind the wet bar.

The house measures just under 3,000 square feet and has 2.75 bathrooms. The residence is fronted by a circular driveway and flanked by an attached two-car garage. It’s listed for $999,000.
