Johnny Depp owns not one but five penthouses in the Eastern Columbia Lofts, the turquoise Art Deco landmark building Downtown, and he's ready to drop all of them. The eclectic spread of top-floor condos—with a combined nine bedrooms and an inexplicable 14 bathrooms—listed Wednesday for $12.75 million.
From Captain Jack Sparrow to Edward Scissorhands to the Mad Hatter, Depp fills weird and outlandish roles, and this jewel-tone-filled space with lots of interesting design choices totally suits him. There's a surreal mural painted on one dining room wall, dramatic curtains, Moroccan rugs, and red and black checkered floors.
The Wall Street Journal says Depp owns other properties in Los Angeles, and just, "felt that 'it was the right time to divest of that asset.'" The actor is unloading the penthouses on the heels of a volatile divorce from Amber Heard.
Paying $2.1 million, Depp scooped up the first unit in 2007, after the 1930 building was "modernized." He eventually bought an entire wing, and listing agent Kevin Dees of Partners Trust tells the WSJ that Depp, "kept them largely separate, living in them ‘like rooms in a home.’" Marketing materials say two of the penthouses provide, "direct access to the building’s magnificent sky deck featuring a pool, spa, and fitness studio."
The condos may be purchased all together or individually.
