West Adams, Hollywood, Valley Village, and more

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. We've found five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,800.

↑ The unit for rent in this West Adams building is approximately 1,400 square feet, with two bedrooms and a bathroom, a block south of West Adams Boulevard. Freeway close, the spacious apartment has laminate wood floors, a decorative fireplace, a one-car garage, and a decent-looking kitchen (not the best layout but definitely room to make a meal). Rent here is $1,895.

↑ Tucked into this cool, midcentury-looking complex not far from Runyon Canyon, the apartment for rent here is a one-bedroom unit with a balcony and a retro-cool bathroom with aqua-colored tiles and counters. The Hollywood unit has a new stove, and gated, reserved parking. Rent is $1,795.

↑ This studio apartment is located in a stately "Brownstone-like compound" north of Franklin in Los Feliz. The unit boasts polished concrete floors, air conditioning, and an updated kitchenette with cabinets, a cooktop, and a fridge. There’s only street parking available for this unit, but that’s not a terrible trade-off for such a cool complex. Rent is $1,900.

↑ The one-bedroom unit in this Mid-Wilshire building features exposed brick and a flourish of glass blocks. The top-floor unit has wood floors in the living room and bedroom and blue tile in the bathroom (where it appears there might only be a tub, no shower). There’s only street parking, but at least it’s walking distance to the Trader Joe’s on La Brea, so you won’t have to move your car to get groceries. Rent is $1,850.

↑ This commuter-friendly Valley Village one-bedroom is not far from the 101 or the 170 freeways, and it offers underground parking and on-site laundry. The apartment has laminate wood floors, air conditioning, and a wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen is a bit narrow but appears to have newer counters and appliances. Rent is $1,760.
