Historic Glendale Tudor full of wood paneling wants $2M

Vintage bathroom alert!

According to the listing description, this four-bedroom Tudor Revival was the work of Gene Verge, who also designed Buster Keaton’s legendary estate and the Art Deco Saint Luke’s Hospital in Pasadena. (Included in the listing photos is a sketch by Verge to prove the home’s provenance.) Built in 1930, it was also apparently the longtime home of former Glendale mayor William Howard Peters.

The 4,353-square-foot home opens up to an impressive entryway complete with a winding master stairway with wrought-iron railing. Hardwood floors, exposed beams, and leaded and stained glass windows feature prominently throughout the home. The extravagant dining room includes mahogany paneling, an oversized bay window, ornately carved ceiling, and large double doors leading to the front hall.

The home’s kitchen certainly looks like it could use an update, but we certainly hope the home’s new owners won’t meddle too much with the wonderfully vintage upstairs bathrooms. The master bathroom has an unusual oval shape and features leaded glass windows and a fun little nook where the tub fits in. Meanwhile, two other bathrooms seem to be decked out for Easter, with classic purple and yellow tile lining their respective floors and walls.

Situated on a three-quarter-acre lot, the grounds around the home (extensively displayed in the drone video below) include a landscaped yard, along with pool, spa, and covered barbecue space. Asking price is $2 million.
