Two big events at Hollywood-area venues plus a street closures for a movie premiere at Hollywood and Highland could mean epic gridlock in Hollywood this weekend.
A block of Hollywood Boulevard between Orange Drive and Highland Avenue will be shut down from 2 a.m. Saturday, July 9, until 1 a.m., Sunday, July 10 to accommodate the Ghostbusters premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre, says a press release from City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell.
That alone might not be so bad, but Saturday events at the Hollywood Bowl and the reopened John Anson Ford Amphitheatre both begin at 8 p.m., and "are expected to draw sellout crowds," says O’Farrell. Traffic officers at Hollywood and Highland and at both performance venues will help keep traffic moving.
Traffic on Highland is expected to be rougher than usual as a result of cars getting rerouted. Councilman O’Farrell encouraged people to plan ahead as well as to, "pay close attention to any parking restrictions and take alternate routes when navigating the area."
