Luxury Development Going Up Ground Near LAX

Upscale apartments rising between Inglewood and Ladera Heights

A new three-story luxury development breaks ground today at 6944 Knowlton Place—just off La Cienega Boulevard, south of Centinela. The 45,000 square-foot structure will feature 36 one, two, and three-bedroom units ranging in size from 700 to 1,500 square feet.

Known as Knowlton Luxury Residences, the project will include amenities such as a rooftop bar, lounge, and dining area, along with a gym and swimming pool with "an artistic European design." The building is designed by Arcaforma and Studio H2O, with interior design by The Interior Studio.

In a press release from developer Strategic Legacy Investment Group, company president Abraham Mehrian says "We think this market is ready for these types of units with the amenities and finishes not usually seen in this community." He goes on to suggest more high-end projects like this could be on the way in the future.

A luxury development like this suggests Silicon Beach is continuing its eastward expansion into the communities surrounding LAX. Meanwhile, the city is working on a plan to transform nearly 350 acres of land north of the airport with a mix of office space, retail, and green space.

The Knowlton project is expected to be complete by the end of the third quarter of 2017.
