Here's All the Street Closures for LA Pride This Weekend

To ease traffic, WeHo is offering free shuttle rides to the festival

LA Pride is upon us! The party begins tomorrow, when hundreds of thousands of people will begin flocking to WeHo to take part in the annual event. Concerts, comedy acts, and awards ceremonies Friday and Saturday will serve as preambles to the main attraction, the Pride parade, which is scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

There will be no shortage of enjoyment to be had on Santa Monica Boulevard, but getting there could be a major headache. Road rage-inducing street closures will be in effect starting tonight, no doubt snarling traffic to a standstill in the surrounding area. Here are the streets you'll want to avoid, according to the city of West Hollywood:

San Vicente Blvd (between Melrose Ave and Santa Monica Blvd) will be closed from 7:00pm on Thursday, June 9 through 10:00 am on Monday, June 13

Santa Monica Blvd (between Fairfax Ave and Doheny Dr) will be closed from 5:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, June 12

Crescent Heights Blvd (between Romaine St and Fountain Ave) will be closed from 5:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, June 12

Norton Ave (between Havenhurst Dr and Laurel Dr) will be closed from 5:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, June 12

Streets one block north and one block south of Santa Monica Blvd (between Fairfax Ave and Doheny) will be closed from 5:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, June 12

Luckily, commuting by car is not the only way to get to Pride. Why aggravate yourself with street closures and parking when the city has provided shuttle services galore?

There's a trio of free shuttle options: Cityline X, PickUp Line and Hollywood Link.

On Saturday and Sunday nights, Hollywood Link (the route is highlighted in green in the map below) will pick up and drop off at the subway's Red Line station at Hollywood and Highland, taking riders to and from Fountain and a short, one-block stretch of Santa Monica. The service times are 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Watch the clock Saturday night. The last Red Line trains to North Hollywood leave at 2:33 a.m., and the last train to Union Station leaves departs at 2:17 a.m.

Cityline X will also shuttle to the subway station, and it runs along a much longer stretch of Santa Monica, from Highland to Melrose, with service fro 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The Pickup will transport partygoers up and down Santa Monica Boulevard from La Brea to Melrose from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday.
