Take a Peek at the Soon-to-Open US Bank Tower Observation Deck

"Skyspace" will also house a terrifying glass slide

The US Bank tower in Downtown's Financial District is undergoing a major renovation, thanks to newish owners OUE Limited. The most outstanding new element is Skyspace, which, from 1,000 feet up, will house a public observation deck offering 360-degree views of the city and a terrifying glass slide.

The new attractions are set to open soon, on June 25, says Skyspace's website.

Some photos of the progress posted as recently as yesterday on Skyspace's Instagram show a construction worker on the ledge of the skyscraper and a staircase that will connect the 69th and 70th floors, where the observation deck is. (The 72nd floor will hold a restaurant, and the 73rd floor will remain office space.)

We've already taken a look at the glass chute, which was flown in by helicopter a couple of months ago.

The US Bank Tower was built in 1989 and is the tallest building in the West. But it will be unseated by the Wilshire Grand (it wins thanks to its spire) when the project is completed in March 2017.
