Completed in 1935, the three-bedroom Silver Lake residence is asking $5,500 per month

In 1934, William Kesling paid $250 for a 6,000-square-foot plot of land in the hills of Silver Lake. There, he constructed the model home that launched his career as an architect. The first of a dozen or so Streamline Moderne-style residences Kesling erected in the neighborhood, the two-story house was completed in 1935 at a cost of $3,600. Now, the three-bedroom residence is up for lease with a monthly rent as steep as the lot it occupies: $5,500 to be exact. Per the listing, the house features original metal and glass light fixtures, built-in seating and cabinetry, hardwood floors, a modern kitchen, a fireplace, a curved bank of windows, a walkout deck with spa, and a double garage.
