Boyle Heights Craftsman Is Lovingly Restored

New, 17 comments

Beautiful built-in cabinetry and original light fixtures highlight this three-bedroom home, asking just under $600K

Constructed in 1911, this Boyle Heights Craftsman has seen plenty of restorative work since it was last purchased in 2009. The seller tells Curbed he reused original woodwork while restoring the home and recovered several light fixtures from a previous owner. He also looked into the history of the home, discovering the original owner was a dentist who apparently was sued in the early 1900s for pulling out a wrong tooth.

The three-bedroom home features hardwood flooring throughout, along with beautiful built-in cabinets. Cycling enthusiasts might recognize the distinctive color of the kitchen. That’s Bianchi Bicycles’s signature Celeste Green hue that has been in use for generations. The vintage style of the kitchen carries over into the white tile bathroom upstairs, which is complete with a clawfoot tub. The backyard offers a pergola for shade along with a garage, garden, and chicken coop. Per the listing, the roof, electrical wiring, and plumbing have all been replaced and a new HVAC system has also been installed.

Asking price for the 1,952 square-foot home is $599,000.
