About 640 apartments on the way

UPDATE 6:12 p.m.: A rep for Jamison confirms that Hanson LA is not designing the project. The towering new mixed-user set to bring apartments and retail to a corner lot where Wilshire Boulevard and Hoover Street meet, across from Lafayette Park has been revealed today. As seen on BuzzBuzz Home, the complex will have about 640 apartments over ground-floor commercial space.

According to Hanson LA's site, the design was inspired by the neighboring park, as "the articulation of the facade responds to the random pattern of the sunlight shining through the trees."

Developers are Jamison Services and Hankey Group. The president of Hankey had previously told The Real Deal that the new residential complex would offer a mix of studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments.

The tower is listed as in "preconstruction"; before it can rise, a couple of stubby commercial buildings and a parking lot would have to go. Jamison has a few projects underway in Koreatown currently, including a 32-story mixed-user over by The Line Hotel and the conversion of two of its office buildings into residential housing.
