Holy Cow, Look at the Lines For LA's First Light Rail to the Beach

New, 20 comments

It's like an iPhone line times an Eggslut line at the new Expo Line terminus in Santa Monica

It's been about four hours since the Expo Line extension to Santa Monica opened and the end-of-the-line station in Santa Monica, just blocks from the beach, is already flooded with people coming off the train and hopping on. The theme-park-long lines make sense, considering the cool ride waiting at the end. (The theme park atmosphere also makes sense considering there appears to be a man on stilts in among the hordes.)

Not that it's a competition or anything, but almost 30,000 people took a ride aboard the Gold Line's Foothill extension on opening day; it'll be interesting to see what the final numbers for the Expo Line's opening day(s) are.
