First Look at West Hollywood's Swanky James Hotel

Start looking forward to those penthouse suites

The boutiquey James Hotel is anticipating a late 2016 arrival at its new location in the big new Sunset|LaCienega project, but we've got renderings showing off the new addition now. Long touted as the first new-build hotel in West Hollywood in almost 30 years, the ten-floor hotel will have 286 rooms, including suites of all shapes and sizes: two penthouse suites, two "bungalow" suites, 18 "loft" suites, and 13 one-bedroom suites, according to a release for the project.

The hotel's overall vibe and color palette is intended to reflect "the colors and characteristics of the local landscape, including the Pacific Ocean, Hollywood Hills and San Gabriel Mountains." The rooms seen in renderings reflect the kind of stylish minimalism that's in fashion now, and will feature wood finishes like walnut and white oak.

With design led by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the hotel will also have 10,000 square feet of space for events and meeting, a 24-hour gym spread across two ten-story towers, and, of course, a pool with wooden cabanas outfitted with "decorative rope canopies."

The Sunset|LaCienega megaproject, developed by CIM Group, will have two more towers on the *western side of the project's namesake intersection. Those two eight-story structures will hold 190 residential units and 40,000 square feet of retail space.
