Yesterday's CicLAvia Southeast Cities was a tough one to put together, logistically, because the 10-mile route meant that streets running through Huntington Park, Walnut Park, South Gate, Florence-Firestone, Lynwood, and Watts all had to be shut down to cars from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. But it came together and thousands rode bikes, skateboards, ran, and walked the path of the linear block party, says KPCC.
The route passed near the Watts Towers (which inspired at least two cyclists to fashion tin foil hats that mimic the landmark), the Warner Theater in Huntington Park, and a variety of activities at hubs along the route set up for the event. For those who missed the fun, we've culled some of the best photos from the day to give an idea of what a ride along the 10-mile stretch would have looked like. The next CicLAvia is in August and will once again revisit Wilshire Boulevard.
