Apartments in Mar Vista, East Hollywood, and more

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,400.

↑ Look at that sparkling kitchen, that blue tile! This one-bedroom apartment in East Hollywood near LACC has a fair amount of kitchen storage, a built-in dresser in the bedroom, and a one-car garage that offers a "crazy amount of storage." Rent is $1,450.

↑ This Mar Vista studio apartment comes furnished and offers assigned parking. There isn't really a kitchen, just a microwave and a counter, but for people who don't cook, a full-on range probably won't be missed. Rent is $1,485.

↑ This Valley Village one-bedroom has new flooring, granite counters, a pool, and air conditioning. The rent is also a little bit cheaper (19 percent) than the typical Valley Village one-bedroom, coming in at $1,445.

↑ This second-floor studio in Koreatown near Westlake has laminate wood floors, seriously big windows, and on-site laundry. The only hassle might be that there's no dedicated parking, only street spots (no permit required). Rent is $1,350.

↑ 800 square feet of space await in this one-bedroom apartment not far from Griffith Park in Los Feliz. The unit boasts "new hardwood in the living and dining area," a big kitchen, gated parking, and laundry facilities in the building. Rent is $1,495—about 15 percent less than the average one-bedroom in the area.
