Universal Studios Hollywood's Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion is finally open today, and people are clearly very excited to experience all the new attractions. After an exclusive opening night event Tuesday, featuring a performance by the LA Philharmonic with film composer John Williams conducting, tickets for the official first day of operation have completely sold out online. But don't worry, the good folks at Time Out have put together a video walkthrough for those waiting for the crowds to die down a little.
The video begins in the reconstructed town of Hogsmeade, familiar to fans of the series as the quaint village frequented by Hogwarts students looking for some time off campus. Hogsmeade destinations like Zonko's Joke Shop and the Honeydukes candy store appear to have been lovingly brought to life, with fake snow adding that cozy wintry feel. Nearby, a stationary reproduction of the Hogwarts Express blows steam and waits for selfie-takers.
Another Hogsmeade attraction, the Three Broomsticks, seems to offer visitors some kind of dining opportunity. And of course butterbeer flows from the kegs at the back of the bar—the popular wizarding beverage seems to be represented here as a butterscotch-infused cream soda.
The video only offers a brief glimpse at Flight of the Hippogryph, the first outdoor rollercoaster at Universal's Hollywood location, but it looks to be a fun—if not terribly thrilling—attraction.
Teasingly, the walkthrough ends in the line for the expansion's most anticipated feature: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. This ride takes visitors into the Hogwarts Castle and gives them a whirlwind tour aided by a robotic arm and 3D animation. It's already drawn much praise from theme park critics (yes, there are theme park critics). For now, that's one attraction it looks like you'll have to brave the crowds to experience.
