Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. We're looking at rentals within $100 of today's price: $1,500.
↑ Just about a block north of Miracle Mile, this Mid-Wilshire studio apartment is a short jaunt away from music venues like the El Rey Theatre and close to LACMA, the La Brea Tar Pits, and a handful of other museums. The 500-square-foot studio features wood floors, fantastic windows, a dining area in the kitchen, and on-site laundry. No word about parking, though. Rent is $1,525.
↑ This two-bedroom apartment in North Hollywood is 37 percent cheaper than the median two-bedroom in the neighborhood, and though it lacks what some might call curb appeal, the inside's pretty nice. The newly remodeled apartment has granite kitchen counters, on-site laundry, parking for one car, and wall-mounted air conditioning. It rents for $1,600.
↑ This rear-facing upper-level studio apartment in Sawtelle has its own balcony and a covered carport parking space. The kitchen is older but clean and roomy-looking, and there is supposedly a patio somewhere. Rent is $1,545.
↑ This Pasadena one-bedroom has lots of space and lots of carpet. The kitchen has a ceiling fan, which will complement the wall-mounted air conditioner well. (There's another fan in the bedroom, where there are also two closets.) The building has parking available and laundry on-site. Rent is $1,595.
↑ All the appliances, including that sweet dishwasher, are included in this Hollywood one-bedroom apartment on Sunset near La Brea. The place has laminate wood floors and comes with one parking space. It's also about 15 percent cheaper than most comparable apartments in Hollywood. Rent is $1,595.
