For her performance of "When We Were Young" at the Brit Awards last week, Adele sang in front of an elaborate set of panels displaying twinkling footage shot in Yayoi Kusama's highly photographed Infinity Mirrored Room at The Broad museum in Downtown LA. In an interview posted to the museum's Facebook page, she explains she was first introduced to the piece via Katy Perry's Instagram. But don't get the wrong idea: she is a museum lover through and through, having grown up the daughter of an aspiring artist.
Adele explains that the images shot in the Infinity Mirrored Room seemed to fit with the idea of "different versions of yourself" that the song takes as its subject. Her performance, like the room itself, is quite impressive and a little dizzying. Here it is, followed by her interview:
