LA Mayor Garcetti 'Slow Jams' About This Weekend's 101 Freeway Closure

There's nothing inherently sensual about bridge construction or the "concrete cancer" that put the Sixth Street Viaduct permanently out of commission, but Mayor Eric Garcetti is sure making traffic notices sound as sultry as possible. This weekend, a major portion of the 101 Freeway through Boyle Heights will be shut down, so workers can start demolishing the Sixth Street Viaduct. In order to get the word out to drivers, Garcetti's office just released this Tonight Show-style "slow jam" to remind people to that a some roads will be closed this weekend for "40 hours of R&R and R&B."

Backing him up are the smooth sounds of the Roosevelt High School Jazz Band. Watch out, Questlove, these kids have got soul. Sure, it's a little weird to see the mayor cooing about detours in front of a high school jazz band, but hey, ripping off NBC late-night property is a tried and true way to get your PSA some attention.
