What $1,850 a Month Rents You in Los Angeles Right Now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,850.

↑ This one-bedroom apartment in Mid-City is on a pretty busy stretch of Crenshaw just south of Venice. The unit itself features an "updated interior" with many of the trappings the modern renter hopes to find: new counters, stainless steel appliances, big windows, and a pool. The lone bedroom also looks to be big enough to comfortably fit a queen bed, right in the middle of the room if you want. There's no mention of parking, though. Rent is $1,800.

↑ This one-bedroom apartment in Jefferson Park (right along architecturally exciting West Adams Boulevard) measures 850 square feet and has bamboo and tile floors throughout. The upstairs unit includes a fridge in the kitchen if you want it, parking for one car, a shared balcony, and a policy of tolerance for small pets. There's no on-site laundry, but with one parking space, at least there won't be a hunt for a spot after those trips to the laundromat. Rent is $1,850.

↑ Several blocks west of the Barnsdall Art Park and its fantastic Hollyhock House, this two-bedroom apartment in East Hollywood offers 900 square feet of space, hardwood floors, parking, and pool access. Located not far from the Red Line's Hollywood/Western stop, the apartment also features a galley kitchen and at least one ceiling fan. Rent is $1,850.

↑ This West Hollywood one-bedroom is ticking off the boxes: on-site laundry, parking, pet-friendly attitude, stove included, wood floors. The upper-level unit has tile counters in the kitchen and a wall-mounted air conditioner in the living room. Rent is $1,795.

↑ It's a bit more, but this Valley Village two-bedroom is worth it for the dishwasher alone. The kitchen's a little tight, but there are two bathrooms, including one right off the bedroom. The 900 square foot unit is in a complex with assigned parking for tenants and a swimming pool. Rent is $1,950.
