In 2013, power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West bought a villa in gated Bel Air Estates (which is not in Bel Air) that they immediately set to gutting, and ultimately have never lived in. Renovations get pricey, and the tab for a two-year overhaul on any house, let alone a nearly 10,000-square-foot mansion getting decked out in the finest, is probably pretty painful. So it must be fantastic news for West, who is supposedly $53 million in debt, that they are right on the cusp of making a deal to sell the house.
Variety hears from multiple sources that the "floridly ersatz Tuscan villa" is "inches away" from changing hands in an off-market deal priced somewhere between $14 and $18 million. The Kardashian-Wests paid $9 million for the place, so they probably stand to make some money back on the transaction. Maybe.
Back around the time the couple began renovations in 2013, there were reports that they were adding gold-plated toilets and a Swarovski-bedazzled refrigerator, but all these off-market dealings mean that there aren't any listing photos available to see whether or not this madness ever made it into the house.
Last year, rumors arose that the reality TV queen and the rapper/budding fashion mogul were shopping the Bel Air property around for more than $20 million, but they've never officially listed it. The Kardashian-Wests have been living in a super-private Hidden Hills mansion since the late summer of 2014 (after a spell at Kim's mom's), so it's probably a huge relief to have this money-suck off their hands.
Here are the listing photos from when the pair bought the house:
