What $2,250 Rents You Right in the Heart of LA

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Today, we're looking exclusively at rentals in Central LA. Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $2,250.

↑ One of four units in the building, this 930-square-foot one-bedroom apartment in Hollywood is one of those "BRAND NEW EVERYTHING apartment[s]" that still has some cool, retro elements. The second-floor apartment has brand new air conditioning and heating units, new kitchen appliances (dishwasher, fridge, stove), and wood floors. There's on-site laundry and a backyard patio area that appears communal. Rent is $2,300.

↑ It may not look like it from the outside, but the one-bedroom apartment up for grabs here is in a 1930s duplex. The rental on Silver Lake Boulevard has loads of period details (an array of cute built-ins, a fancy fireplace) and wood floors. The kitchen has been updated, and has tile floors and a dishwasher. The house has its own laundry facilities, forced air heating, and a wall-mounted air conditioning unit. There is only street parking available though, and the pool on the property isn't for the duplex's tenants. Rent is $2,200.

↑ If that cool cutout doesn't get your attention, nothing will. This Windsor Square two-bedroom offers 1,050 square feet of clean, white-walled space and two whole bathrooms. The unit up for grabs here has a balcony, a dishwasher, wood floors, plenty of closet space, central air conditioning, and comes with pool access and parking, parking, parking. Just a short walk to Larchmont Village, the apartment rents for $2,295.

↑ 1,150 square feet of space is a lot of room. This Hollywood Dell one-bedroom condo uses all that space to hold its formal dining room, a master bedroom with two closets, two bathrooms, and big kitchen. The condo also has direct access to the complex's pool, two private patios, and a washer and dryer. Two non-tandem parking spaces come with the place. Rent is $2,295.

↑ A few blocks away from the lake in Echo Park, this one-bedroom apartment has hardwood floors, a skylight and loft, and a balcony. The kitchen has a lot of room and a newer-looking dishwasher, but there is a conspicuously empty space where a fridge might fit. Aside from some really oddly-placed columns in the main living area, the place is cute and bright. Rent is $2,300.
