This Sunday is the last day that visitors to Echo Park Lake will see a library on a raft floating across the water. The Floating Library, from Echo Park-based art organization Machine Project and set to coincide with the LA Art Book Fair, is reachable by rented paddle boat and open from 11 am to 4 pm. City Librarian John Szabo has already stopped by, and so have many more curious paddlers who've taken some cool pictures of what awaits those who check out this watery, literary wonder.
Record high temps in winter sent us right out on @echoparklake paddling our way to the #floatinglibrary A perfect complement to the @printedmatterinc book fair this week, this pop up library has zines and art books. We took out three (our favorite was the one on knot tying with rope as the spine) and floated off into the sun. The island of print will be open from 11am-4pm through Feb. 14th. We suggest sneaking some champagne and a picnic lunch and taking your beloved out for a spin (lathered in sunscreen of course). Perhaps there is some poetry one of the librarians can lend you. #mydayinla #escapemore #echopark #echoparklake #bookstagram #paddleboat #adventuresinreading #valentinesdayideas
