The country singer snags a pretty sweet vacation home

Update: Turns out, reports of Chesney’s big purchase were false. Though the singer apparently enjoys a good paddleboarding session in the area, he won’t be making the move to this Malibu beach house anytime soon.

Country music superstar Kenny Chesney has a new vacation home in Malibu, according to real estate website Trulia. Built in 1957, the modern-ish traditional is located on a gated street with direct beach access and sparkling sea views.

On a 6,511-square-foot lot, the two-bedroom, three bath residence is fronted by a large, privacy-protecting gate and parking garage. Inside, the 1,940-square-foot home features bamboo hardwood floors and beamed ceilings, along with walls of glass and a living room fireplace. The master bedroom opens to an enclosed outdoor patio area, while sliding doors in the living room lead to a long deck that faces the ocean.

It’s exactly the type of place you’d expect to find Chesney, who’s followed in the footsteps of Jimmy Buffet and brought plenty of easygoing, beachy vibes to a genre that’s usually more closely associated with smoky barrooms in landlocked states. The Tennessee native also seems rather taken with Los Angeles, namedropping La Cienega Boulevard in his latest hit single.

Chesney reportedly paid $5.2 million for the property, $300,000 under the home’s initial asking price.
