Built in 1962 for Walt and Lillian Disney, this Palm Springs home was owned by the Disney family until 2015, according to its listing. Since then, new owners have played up the home’s connections to the animator, staging the home with various bits of Disney memorabilia, and even quotes from the man himself painted in that recognizable Disney script on the interior of several closets.
As the new listing notes, the home was built shortly after the launch of Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color, and seems to have drawn inspiration from that title for the interior design style. But judging by previous listing photos, the bright coloring inside the home has actually been toned down a bit since the Disneys owned the place.
The four bedroom, four bath home was at least the second property Disney purchased for himself in the Palm Desert (not including the secluded, zipline-adjacent guest house that the filmmaker reportedly maintained for some of his most famous friends). The first was a nearby home that Disney reportedly had to sell to finance the construction of Disneyland.
The 2,443-square-foot home is situated on a quarter-acre lot positioned along the second fairway of the Indian Canyons North Golf Course. Features include a gas fireplace, walls of glass, two car garage, and a backyard pool and spa. Asking price is $899,000.
