Apartments in Carthay, Glendale, and Exposition Park

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. We've found five listings within $100 of today's price: $2,100.

↑ This detached one-bedroom rear unit in Carthay measures about 900 square feet. It has stylish accents like curved doorways and, in some rooms, coved ceilings. The roomy kitchen looks to have a wealth of cabinet space, and the apartment has its own in-unit laundry facilities. The "guest house"-like dwelling also has a parking space. Rent is $2,100.

↑ Located just east of Exposition Park, on the other side of Figueroa, this approximately 900-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment is being marketed as student housing because of its proximity to USC, but it’s probably good for anyone who wants to be close to the museums in Expo Park and to a whole host of transit options (so many buses plus the Expo Line’s USC/ Expo Park station). Each bedroom has its own air conditioning unit, and the apartment has a washer and dryer. Hardwood floors and vintage touches (decorative fireplace mantel, built-ins) are a bonus. Rent is $2,100.

↑ Full of "old-world charm," this Mid-Wilshire two-bedroom has its original tilework, arched doorways, and hardwood floors. The ground-level apartment has in-unit laundry, built-ins, loads of windows, and a spacious, bright kitchen. Rent here is $2,150.

↑ This second-floor unit in Pico-Robertson was just remodeled but still has cool crown molding. The one-bedroom apartment’s received new wood floors, counters in the kitchen, and all new appliances, including a washer and dryer inside the apartment. There is only street parking, but the street has a permit district and the landlord pays for the permit. Rent is $2,200.

↑ With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, this Glendale townhouse has about 1,200 square feet of space to spread out. The bathrooms have been remodeled, and there’s central air conditioning here. There’s parking and on-site laundry, and a pet-friendly policy, provided those pets are tiny (under 10 pounds). Rent is $2,195.
