No end in sight for new hotel projects in the area

Tourists visiting Hollywood several years from now sure won’t have any shortage of places to stay. The hotel boom that’s lately overtaken the neighborhood isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, and on Thursday, one more project joined the fray.

Plans filed with the city show that the hotel, proposed for the site of a parking lot on Selma Avenue between Wilcox and Schraeder, will have 212 guest rooms—and that’s about it. We’ll have to wait for more details on the mysterious project, but it joins no less than five other hotels under development within just two blocks of the project site.

The closest is an under-construction Thompson Hotel that will rise 12 stories and include 220 rooms. That project, which will also feature a bar and 13,000 square feet of restaurant space, is rising right around the block on Wilcox.

Another nearby project is the 21-story Art Deco-ish Ivar Gardens, which will replace a Jack in the Box at Cahuenga and Sunset. Once complete, the hotel will offer 275 guest rooms along with 1,900 square feet of retail and four levels of underground parking.
