The push for more hotel rooms near the convention center soldiers on, and this time it might usher in a 250-key hotel on a parking lot right off the 110 Freeway in Downtown's South Park neighborhood. Urbanize LA found plans for the hotel mentioned in a motion filed by Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar.

Called the Cambria, the hotel would rise on a corner lot at James M. Wood Boulevard and Georgia Street, just north of LA Live.

ULA says that the hotel would be "a limited-service brand catering to business travelers," and that it would be operated by Choice Hotels International.

South Park’s welcoming an assortment of new hotels in the coming years. Just a couple of blocks away, the Metropolis megaproject will bring an 18-story Hotel Indigo to the neighborhood. To the east of LA Live, there’s a 34-story hotel planned on 11th and Figueroa as part of a huge, three-towered project that will eventually take over an L-shaped property that is shared by the Luxe Hotel.

According to Huizar's motion, hotel developers Pacific Property Partners have "requested that the City help with economic incentives such as those that have been provided to other large hotel projects." It's spending $150,000 to study what kind of incentives the city could offer.
