Eclectic 1927 Mediterranean in Griffith Park asks $2.5 million

This beautiful old home needs a bit of restoration

Located a little past the Fern Dell Drive entrance to Griffith Park, this five-bedroom, four-bath Mediterranean Revival was designed in 1927 by Swiss-born architect Edward Voellmy. The three-story residence has undergone a number of alterations since being built, some of them rather unfortunate. Nevertheless, the home still retains a fair amount of striking original features, including vibrantly painted tile, wrought-iron grilles and sconces, carved archways and built-ins, expansive windows, elaborately detailed doors, coffered ceilings, and grand fireplaces. It's also got a huge lot and parking for six cars.

Now on the market for the first time in over fifty years, the 5,421-square-foot house is listed with an asking price of $2.495 million.
