What $1,650 a Month Rents You in Los Angeles Right Now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,650.

↑ Located near the very eastern-most edge of Echo Park and, technically, in the small 'hood of Victor Heights, this one-bedroom in a "completely restored and renovated" building features a walk-in shower, wood floors, and new appliances and counters (quartz) in the kitchen. The laundry room isn't quite ready yet, the listing says, but it's on the way; air conditioning installation is in progress. Rent is $1,650.

↑ The ill-lit photos aren't helping this Mid-Wilshire apartment, and yet it still manages to look pretty cool. Tucked into a "Beautiful 1930's Brick Building" a couple of blocks from The Grove, the one-bedroom apartment boasts real hardwood floors, a retro tile job in the bathroom, and recessed lighting. All the appliances in the smallish kitchen are included, and there's on-site laundry. Rent is $1,550.

↑ Close to transit (Vermont/Santa Monica Red Line station)and expanded horizons (LACC), the listing for this two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bathroom unit in East Hollywood says the unit's been recently remodeled, but it appears that it is currently being remodeled because there is still blue painter's tape up in some of these photos. But what fabulous work they're doing! New laminate floors, granite counters, a fridge, and one glorious parking space are included in the rent, which is $1,650.

↑ In a pretty central spot in West Hollywood (near Fairfax and Santa Monica), this roomy-looking, one-bedroom, lower unit comes with a fridge and stove, plus one parking spot. On-site laundry sweetens the deal. Rent is $1,595.

↑ Not too far from the popular celeb-spotting public space at Runyon Canyon, this Hollywood one-bedroom is in a pink building and has a pink bathroom. The spacious living room area opens onto a balcony. That pink bathroom has a double sink, which is a handy thing to have. On-site laundry and gated parking are included. Rent is $1,550.
