What $1,450 a Month Rents You in Los Angeles Right Now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,450.

↑ About a block north of Thai Town in Los Feliz, this little studio apartment appears to include a stove and maybe a fridge (for all the leftover Thai food) in its spacious kitchen. The unit comes, as do all in the building, with air conditioning, central heat, and parking. The building also has on-site laundry as an added perk. Rent is $1,450.

↑ This East Hollywood one-bedroom is confident. Advertising itself as a "Large Delux Semi luxury upper unit," it has a dishwasher, air conditioning (a wall-mounted unit is up in the bedroom, from the looks of things), and parking. There's a very interesting bathtub setup in the bathroom, but at least the fixtures are newish looking. Rent is $1,550.

↑ This one-bedroom apartment in Hollywood is one of the eight on the property. Located upstairs, it's got two ceiling fans, plus wall-mounted air conditioning and nice stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. The newly carpeted place comes with one parking space and is just a block south of Sunset. Rent is $1,495.

↑ Before you get too nervous about the flowery interiors of this one-bedroom in Encino, consider that these are just photos of a model unit, and not the actual place up for rent. Whew! The apartment is on the first floor and it just got new air conditioning and fake wood flooring. Parking is part of the deal here, and the building has a pool and a sauna. Rent is $1,475.

↑ The lofted studio up for grabs in this Santa Monica complex, on Olympic, only measures 416 square feet, but seems much larger because of its vertical height. The kitchen has a dishwasher and the bedroom's upstairs, lit by the two giant windows in the main living area. Rent is $1,495.
