What $1,650 Can Rent a Pet Owner in Los Angeles Right Now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five pet-friendly listings within $100 of today's price: $1,650.

↑ The colorful tile and original oak floors of this Sherman Oaks one-bedroom welcome both dogs and cats. The unit has front and back entrances, air conditioning and ceiling fans, and a reserved parking space. The building has a Walk Score of 89, and "most errands can be accomplished on foot," which dogs might like. There is a curious, fridge-shaped gap in the cute kitchen, though. Rent is $1,650.

↑ A stove and a fridge are definitely included in this West Hollywood one-bedroom right by Santa Monica and Fairfax. The apartment also comes with one parking space, wall-mounted air conditioning, on-site laundry facilities, tile countertops, and hardwood floors. They're open to pets at this place, though the listing does say that the owner has to approve them. Rent is $1,595.

↑ This one-bedroom apartment in Valley Village has a cute, tile-countered kitchen that looks pretty roomy for a unit this size. (These photos are of a "similar unit" in the building.) In this dog- and cat-friendly pad, there are ceiling fans, a dining area, and new wood floors. The building offers reserved parking and on-site laundry. Located just off Chandler Boulevard, this unit rents for $1,550.

↑ Not far from the Lake Avenue Gold Line station, this one-bedroom, cat-friendly Pasadena apartment awaits. (Sorry, dogs.) The carpeted apartment has a little dining area, lots of carpet, a garbage disposal, an air conditioning unit on the wall, and "acoustical covered ceilings." Rent for the unit, in a gated complex, is $1,595.

↑ These photos are of a unit similar to the one-bedroom apartment for rent in the same building in Palms, with one big difference: the unit for rent is on a top floor with a skylight, so hopefully it's a lot brighter inside than this cave. Located right on National, the apartment has central air conditioning, its own private balcony, hardwood floors, a dishwasher, and one reserved spot in the parking garage. Pets under 20 pounds are allowed. Rent is $1,650.
