Stylish Pasadena Post and Beam Designed by One-Third of Buff, Smith & Hensman For Sale

According to the listing copy, this 1961 Pasadena abode was designed by Dennis Smith of storied firm Buff, Smith & Hensman for his parents. What a nice kid! Because it's such a "notable" example of the post and beam style that was all the rage in the mid-century, it was named a landmark by the city of Pasadena in 2011. In 2012, it sold and the current owners have since "Lovingly maintained and thoughtfully remodeled" the place, giving the kitchen "Labradorite counters, custom cabinets, newer appliances, cork floors, an eat-in area and breakfast bar."

The two-bedroom residence not far from the Arroyo Seco includes a master bedroom with a dressing room; both the bathrooms in the house open onto a covered deck. There is also a wet bar and gathering spaces that overlook the backyard and pool through floor-to-ceiling windows. Last sold in 2012 for $1.185 million, the current list price is $1.386 million.
