Per the Listing: "Stunning Architectural 1932 Spanish Colonial Revival home by renowned architect Percy Parke Lewis. This majestic property has been lovingly restored back to its original glory and is ideal for formal entertaining that features 4 spacious bedroom suites over 5,000 square feet of living space on a flat 10,712 sq. ft. corner lot in prime Little Holmby. Dramatic grandeur from another era with its impressive formal floor plan, extensive original stenciled beam work, detailed iron work, wide plank oak flooring, mahogany paneled library with Prohibition-era gentleman's bar, four grand fireplaces, swimmers pool/spa, and multiple balconies that tower over the lusciously landscaped grounds. A true chef's kitchen features all Viking Pro appliances with a full service butler's pantry. Very rarely do properties of this caliber, design and history come available on the market today. Truly a masterpiece for the most discerning buyer."
This vintage beauty last appeared on the market just two years ago. At that time, its listing copy made no mention of its architect, who also designed Westwood's landmark Fox Theater and Chateau Colline apartment complex, instead touting the property's Hollywood connection as the former residence of Oscar-winning screenwriter Robert Towne. The house looks to have acquired a quarry's worth of marble since then, which likely means its fabulous deco-tiled Shining-esque bath (shown in the last photo) is no more, though we've got our fingers crossed that that's not the case. One other, quite significant difference is the home's new price tag: more than double its December 2013 sale price of $2.67 million.
