Watch That Time Someone Sailed a Boat Made Out of a Tequila Barrel on Echo Park Lake

Normally only navigated by paddle boats and the occasional canoe, Echo Park Lake has now also been visited by at least one "sailboat" made out of a tequila barrel. In a video produced by the boat builder himself, John Knuth, the sailor takes a test run in a swimming pool before his maiden voyage on the lake. All of it is done to the painfully appropriate soundtrack of Enya's "Orinoco Flow" ("Sail away, sail away, sail away!").

The boat, presented as a "sailboat," has a sail, but is mostly propelled by a paddle and sheer will. There are several times during the lake test run when the boat appears to be exactly at the water level; in fact, for almost the entire time it's on the lake, it looks like the barrel should be taking on water, and yet, it never sinks.

Cool, so it's seaworthy? Not quite. Now on sale on eBay for $450, the vessel is described as "a temperamental craft" that's recommended only for display, perhaps for "your next nautical themed BBQ."
