Take an Awesome Flyover Tour of the Purple Line in Bev Hills and Century City

Construction on the Purple Line extension from Wilshire/Western to Wilshire/La Cienega is already underway, but it's the next segment of the subway—the part that will stretch from La Cienega to Avenue of the Stars/Constellation—that's the subject of this new animated video via The Source. The brief but comprehensive fly-through video illustrates what the area will look like when that future construction is done, touring the route and outlining some early design options for the section's new stations. The Source says preliminary field work is underway now along this part of the route.

This leg of the new Purple Line has been the most controversial one, as it (specfically the Avenue of the Stars/Constellation station) would require tunneling under Beverly Hills High School. That has made the Bev Hills Unified School District absolutely apoplectic and spawned long-running legal battles, student-produced propaganda videos, and a conspiracy theory that the Constellation Avenue stop is just to do a solid to a developer (who is now selling the site).
